About Us

Jamestown Painting was founded in 1988 by Chris Blackwell, a graduate of the University of Delaware, and carries on a family tradition in the painting business that started in 1908 in Wilmington, Delaware. With the addition of Howard Zebley, a graduate of Columbia University, and Chris Beatson a painter for over 20 years, we make up one of the strongest management teams in our industry. Since our inception we have become one of the largest painting and wallcovering contractors in the Mid-Atlantic region. This year we topped out with over 135 employees serving our four offices. Our corporate headquarters is in Newark, Delaware. We also have an office in Milford, Delaware. In 2001, we opened an office in Ft. Myers, Florida. Our most recent endeavor is our new office in Jackson Hole, Wyoming opened in 2008. In 2000, we founded Specialty Finishes, a carpentry company, to complement our painting services.

Since much of the company leadership has deep roots in athletics, we feel competition is naturally one of the key ingredients to our success. Each employee is challenged not to be the weakest link. The hidden competition is never discussed nor used to slow employee growth. Instead, we use positive encouragement to help employees reach their full potential. A mistake by one is a mistake by all. Competition also fuels our drive to please our customers. The more complex the project and the harder the schedule, the more focused we are to be successful. Instead of finding obstacles or excuses why things can’t be done, we enjoy finding solutions to even the toughest projects. This company philosophy has been the underlying theme which gives Jamestown its impeccable reputation for getting the job done right and on time.

Although we work in diverse economies and climates, the drive to honor our commitment is paramount to our success.
